Mechanical Separation

Mechanical separation activity covers the mechanical pre-treatment of municipal wastes to make them suitable for fuel production and material recovery. In this context, mechanical processing facilities include equipment such as overhead cranes, bag openers, rotary sieves, ballistic separators, magnetic separators, optical separators, bale press machines and separation cabins. Municipal wastes are processed and metals are recovered in separation cabins with plastic and magnetic separators to obtain cyclical raw materials, while the organic part is directed to biofuel production and the part suitable for energy recovery is directed to waste-derived fuel (RDF) production as raw materials. While cyclical raw materials are offered for processing in recycled plastic and metal production, biocyclical raw materials are directed to biogas or landfill gas production. Biotrend processes an average of 9 thousand tons of waste per day with the mechanical separation activity it carries out in 8 Integrated Waste Management Facilities.
