Carbon credits are a unit of emission reductions that represent a greenhouse gas emission reduction of 1 tonne of CO₂ equivalent, traded within the framework of global carbon markets. These mechanisms aim to support projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create environmental and social benefits.

Biotrend has integrated all its facilities into the carbon credit studies it started with the Harmandalı, Balıkesir and Uşak projects in 2021. Currently, 12 projects have been documented subject to VCS, ICR and GCC standards. All facilities and the applied standard are given in the table below.

Credit sales were put on hold for a while due to the failure to meet the desired market conditions in 2024. The sale in November 2024 generated 827,400 USD in revenue. The remaining credits available for sale from 2024 and the credits whose verification processes will be completed in 2025 are calculated as approximately 4 million tons. Biotrend's potential to obtain carbon credits is between 2 and 3 million tons per year.
