Carbon Trading

Carbon credits are traded in the global carbon market. In 2021, Biotrend introduced its Carbon Credit projects in Harmandalı, Balıkesir, and Uşak, where its positive environmental impacts are documented as a result of its integrated waste management and energy production activities. In 2022, their scope was extended to include all its plants. In this sense, greenhouse gas reduction certification projects covering 16 facilities are carried out by Biotrend as part of the Verra, GCC and Greenhouse gas reduction certification projects covering 15 facilities are carried out under ICR certification programs. Biotrend Carbon Credit will be CORSIA-eligible, which is suitable for use in civil aviation, and be entitled to a major privilege. Biotrend earned its first income from Carbon Credit in 2022.

Carbon credits are traded in the global carbon market. Carbon Credit represents “the emission reduction used to indicate greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to 1 ton of carbon dioxide”, and is a tradable license or a certificate which grants the holder the right to emit 1 tonne of CO2 or equivalent amount of greenhouse gas. Carbon Credit market mechanisms aim at promoting projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create environmental and social benefits.
